The code for the first version of WikiGateway wasn't so much written as collected. I started with Les Orchard's XmlRpcWikiInterface script for UseMod, took out most of the method bodies (but used them to remind me of what I had to do, and to make some of the return structures) and rewrote them to work with a remote wiki. The screen-scraping code for UseMod non-ModWiki RecentChanges is adapted from David Jacoby's.
The first pre-alpha version was posted Oct 17, '03.

The Atom server code was adapted from Isolani.
Writing an Atom interface was a suggestion by AlexSchroeder?. LionKimbro's commentary about a more fluid motion of text and people between wikis re-activated some old goals of mine. The whole WikiGateway idea was inspired by ScottMoonen?'s idea of modularizing a FilteredRecentchanges for MeatBall:FilteredRecentChanges?, and of course by all the work done before this on XmlRpcWikiInterface.
